Restaurant La Cetate, nestled at the base of the iconic Transfăgărășan and near Dracula's castle, emerges as a delightful culinary spot. Patrons have praised the delicious food and relaxed atmosphere, making it a noteworthy stop on your journey. A reviewer, Horia Niculescu, reflects on the satisfactory, albeit limited, menu options for children and notes the decent pricing relative to tourist standards.

Alexander Manilov echoes this sentiment, highlighting the cozy outdoor seating and professional staff that enhances the dining experience. With a focus on quality, guests can expect well-prepared meals that don't break the bank—a 250 ml glass of their tasty red house wine is comparably priced to a cheap coffee.

While there are occasional drawbacks, such as a bit of noise from passing motorbikes and a longer wait time, many find the overall ambiance charming. Mantas, for instance, is enamored with both the food and the atmosphere, emphasizing a truly idyllic dining experience. All in all, Restaurant La Cetate isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a place that captures a moment of culinary joy amidst stunning scenery.

Review highlights

Based on 1,255 reviews

Restaurant La Cetate, situated near the famed Dracula's castle on the Transfăgărășan, receives consistent praise for its delicious food and cozy, relaxed atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the professional and attentive staff, as well as reasonable pricing that provides good value, especially in comparison to local alternatives. The outdoor seating area is often highlighted as a charming feature. However, some feedback points to a limited menu selection for children and a lack of fresh beverage options like juices or lemonades. Wait times can extend moderately, and certain breakfast items have been noted as less impressive relative to their cost. Overall, the restaurant is regarded as a worthwhile dining experience in a unique setting.

Good, tasty food, not too expressive, clean-ish toilets, and the serving is on par (compared with tourist resort standards). A very nice option to have, specially given the local alternatives (mostly 1/5⭐). Very limited menu selection for kids. Also, don't expect fresh juices or lemonades. Location wise, it's at the foot of the stairs leading to the Dracula's castle (can't miss it). The place is busy and sometimes a bit loud from the motorbikes revving their engines In their pass.

Good food, good people, 20-30 minutes waiting time, reasonable prices (250 ml of tasty red house wine for the price of a cheap coffee comes to mind..) These people really try, and is worth eating here, even staying overnight... the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5* is that the Vlad Tepes breakfast/omelette is definitely not worth the higher price... and the overnight sleep was not as good as expected. But all-in-all, it was pleasant experience that I am willing to repeat one day.
